Job Summary:

Each summer UW-Madison hosts several youth camps. UHS is seeking energetic EMTs to join us in supporting the youth camp programming at UW-Madison, mid-May 2025 through mid-August 2025.A single day of orientation will occur between April 23 and May 21, 2025.

The Youth Camp night EMT position works as part of a health care team to support the wellness of minors participating in residential (overnight) camps on the UW Madison campus. Supporting the campers, interacting with campus partners and perhaps interacting with camper's families/guardians, Youth Camp EMTs help create a memorable experience for campers.

Hours vary to meet operational needs. A minimum of 20 hours/ week is required. Rotating weekends and holidays are required. Due to camp needs, no time off requests can be granted June 29th through July 2nd

This position will work primarily the overnight shift of 11p-7a. Some day or night shifts may occur and are discussed in advance.

Responsibilities:

Collects vital signs, patient history, and specimens; and performs basic laboratory tests and administers injections and medications under supervising clinician direction to ensure the proper care of patients. Prepares examination rooms and equipment and performs administrative duties. Works collaboratively with other medical staff.
  • 70% Performs routine vital signs, basic tests, assists with minor procedures, and administers medications as directed by a supervising clinician
  • 5% Escorts patients to various hospital locations and delivers, orders, and inventories general clinic supplies
  • 25% Performs administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, assisting patients with billing, and coding information and answering basic medical questions

Education:

Preferred
H.S. Diploma

Qualifications:

- Minimum of one year of experience as an EMT is preferred
- Excellent communication skills- verbal and written.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
- Experience working with the pediatric and adolescent populations.

License/Certification:

Required
BCLS - Basic Life Support

Required
EMT - Emergency Medical Tech
Must have an active EMT license (basic, advanced, paramedic) in the State of Wisconsin.

Work Type:

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended based on need and/or funding.

Salary:

Minimum $23.00 HOURLY
Depending on Qualifications

Youth Camps run from early June through early August. Applicants must be available for an in-person HR orientation on ONE of the following dates:

Wednesday, April 23rd; 1pm-9pm
Wednesday, May 7th; 9am-5pm
Wednesday, May 21; 1pm-9pm
