Job Summary:

Serve as a Teaching Specialist in the Department of Chemistry for one or more of the following courses:

Chem 343 - Organic Chemistry I
Chem 345 - Organic Chemistry II

Duties are similar to those of a teaching assistant and include the following:
-Teach discussion sections
-Attend staff meetings
-Hold office hours
-Preparation time
-Proctor exams
-Grade assignments and exams

These courses will be taught online.

Responsibilities:

Teaches the quiz, tutorial, discussion or lab section(s) of a course or assists in the development of materials or programs under the direction of an academic staff or faculty member. May perform the same work as a Teaching Assistant, but is not a UW student.
  • 70% Facilitates classroom and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses including assessment of student performance
  • 10% Assists with the development of instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction under the direction of an academic staff or faculty member
  • 20% Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

Education:

Minimum of B.S. in chemistry or related field required.

Qualifications:

College-level physical chemistry course required.

Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 25% - 100%

It is anticipated this position will be remote and requires work be performed at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 2 month appointment.

Salary:

$45,478 SUMMER SESSION
Fixed

The salary for a full time (100%) position for an academic year (9 months) is $45,478. The salary for this summer session position will be prorated based on the appointment duration and percentage.
