Job Summary:

This position will either support the Sport Clubs or Community Programs Department pending organizational needs. Applicants will receive additional information about this throughout the hiring process. The position will assist in leading a sport club program with 50+ unique clubs or community programs including swim lessons, ice skating lessons, American Red Cross classes, and youth programs. They will directly supervise student leads and assist in the hiring and training of over 75 student instructors and supervisors. This position will work in collaboration with professional staff to provide high-quality, engaging, safe, and inclusive programs and services.

Responsibilities:

Arranges logistics, provides broad administrative oversight, and implements programmatic changes for one or more recreational programs to efficiently provide a broad range of recreational services to the institutional community. Develops marketing and communication materials for promotion to students, staff, and customers; and assists with recreational program staff recruitment and development.
  • 30% Coordinates logistics for events and programs
  • 15% Develops targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals
  • 15% Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised operational policies and procedures
  • 30% Assists in implementing the staffing resource allocation plan including hiring, training, and supervision
  • 10% Engages in the Rec Well professional internship development curriculum, all staff meetings, divisional committees, and other professional development responsibilities and opportunities

Tasks:

  • Assist with the supervision, management, and mentorship of student lead supervisors.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate 50+ student supervisors or 30+ instructors.
  • Maintain daily office hours to assist with administrative duties including answering phone calls and e-mail correspondence, stocking first aid kits with proper supplies, record retention and filing, and customer service.
  • Serve as a liaison to select sport clubs, including all aspects of club oversight such as risk management, inventory, waiver collection, website update, monthly officer meetings, and priority points tracking system.
  • Manage program registration for non-credit educational programs including adult and youth lessons, American Red Cross programs, and Rec Well summer camp and sport clubs.
  • Maintain a presence at programming and events.
  • Create and enforce policies to mitigate risk in program offerings.

Education:

Required
H.S. Diploma

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree
Achieve or advancing towards Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field. Cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 2.75

- Ability to think creatively and critically to identify and solve problems
- Customer service experience

Work Schedule:

Typical working hours are weekdays from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with some evening and weekend hours required. The position averages 30 hours per week.

Work Type:

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended based on need and/or funding.

Salary:

$22.00 HOURLY
This position is not eligible for housing, benefits, or health insurance.

Additional Information:

Professional Internship
- This position will either support the Sport Clubs or Community Programs Department pending organizational needs. Applicants will receive additional information about this throughout the hiring process.
- The academic year internship is a limited-term position lasting nine months or up to a total of 1,040 hours.
- Employment is expected to run approximately from mid-August 2025 to mid-May 2026.
- Compensation is $22 per hour, based on an average of 30 hours per week.
- The intern will receive time off during university breaks (approximately four weeks, unpaid).
- Opportunities for professional development funding support may be available.
