Job Summary:

The Social Emotional Learning Instructor (SEL) position will facilitate 5 SEL sessions to a group of no more than 25 students. The SEL program will be administered during the PEOPLE summer residential program to help students build self-management skills by exploring self. The objective of SEL lessons are to help students take ownership of their success and to learn skills needed to achieve personal and educational goals. The SEL curriculum is provided to instructors and supported by the Social Emotional Learning Coordinator. The SEL Instructors must be confident in their ability to facilitate lessons on SEL topics such as Healthy Relationships, Exploring Identity, and Responsible Activism.

Responsibilities:

Teaches the quiz, tutorial, discussion or lab section(s) of a course or assists in the development of materials or programs under the direction of an academic staff or faculty member. May perform the same work as a Teaching Assistant, but is not a UW student.
  • 50% Facilitates classroom and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses including assessment of student performance
  • 25% Assists with the development of instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction under the direction of an academic staff or faculty member
  • 25% Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 1 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding

Salary:

$45,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
