Job Summary:

The Department of Radiology is seeking a Scientist II to work in Dr. Amy Fowler's Lab. This position is to work with the principal investigator on novel molecular imaging approaches for breast cancer. Currently, a major focus is on 18F-labeled radiotracers for position emission tomography (PET) imaging of steroid receptor expression in clinical trials and preclinical experimental models.

Candidates should have strong organizational, written, and verbal communication in English. The position requires high levels of critical thinking, excellent technical skills, and a strong track-record of academic accomplishment and productivity in research as evidenced by high-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals. The position requires the ability to work in a collaborative environment with other investigators on joint projects in this field as well as supervising research interns and students in the lab.

Responsibilities:

Identifies research problems, designs research methodologies, performs research, and prepares and/or presents results for presentation to professional organizations or for scholarly publications to help advance research.
  • 10% Identifies research problems and develops complex research methodologies and procedures
  • 25% Collects and analyzes complex research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures under general supervision
  • 10% Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials, and disseminates information to appropriate entities
  • 15% Attends and assists with the facilitation of scholarly events and presentations in support of continued professional development and the dissemination of research information
  • 20% Writes or assists in developing grant applications and proposals to secure research funding
  • 10% May supervise the day-to-day activities of a research unit as needed
  • 5% Serves as a unit subject matter expert and liaison to internal and external stakeholders providing advanced level information and representing the interests of a specialized research area
  • 5% Monitors program budget and approves unit expenditures

Education:

Preferred
PhD in Pharmacology, Chemistry, or related field; (having both an MD and PhD is preferred).

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $78,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

The starting salary for the position is $78,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Additional Information:
