Job Summary:

The Gallagher lab uses magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography to study brain changes related to the prodromal and manifest stages of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease and Lewy body dementia. The Research Specialist will assist in acquisition, storage, quality control, and analysis of brain imaging data, and will assist in conducting research visits with human participants as necessary.

Responsibilities:

Develops, designs, and conducts one or more research projects and organizes daily operation of projects and specialized research areas to ensure work meets established objectives under moderate supervision.
  • 20% Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results
  • 10% Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders
  • 20% Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences
  • 15% Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials
  • 15% Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers
  • 20% Performs literature reviews and writes reports

Education:

Required
Bachelor's Degree in biology, social science, psychology, or a related field.

Qualifications:

Required:
-Reliability, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills
-At least 1 year research experience in a lab

Preferred:
-1 Year prior experience with clinical research studies, brain image analysis, and/or computer programming
-Prior research experience in psychology or neuroscience.

Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 50% - 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $44,543 ANNUAL (12 months)
