Job Duties:

The Department of Anesthesiology at The University of Wisconsin is recruiting a general/Adult Multispecialty anesthesiologist, Professor (CHS), primarily to provide clinical anesthesia care with teaching opportunities to medical students, residents, and fellows.

Major teaching responsibilities for medical students, residents, and fellows in the operating room, and didactic sessions. Primary emphasis of teaching will be in general anesthesia procedures and techniques, or in area of subspecialty training. Provision of clinical anesthetic care to surgical patients (i.e. working in the operating room, plus evening and weekend call) in an anesthesia team model or personally performed anesthesia. Opportunity for participation in clinical research for interested candidates.

  • This position is full or part-time FTE 100-75%

  • This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location

  • Contact with vulnerable populations that are non-minors (does not pertain to physicians/providers who work with minors): This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations.  The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Provision of clinical anesthetic care to surgical patients (i.e. working in the operating room, plus evening and weekend call ) in an anesthesia team model.

  • The chosen candidate will spend time teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

  • The chosen applicant will participate in administrative, and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. 

  • An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Negotiable, 12 month

  • Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology by start date of position

MD, DO, or equivalent is required by the start date of the position
