Job Summary:

Provides assistance with set-up, installation, and operation of basic and routine audio-visual (AV) hardware, software, and associated systems. Prepares rooms, venues, and events with proper AV equipment to ensure functionality and security according to client requests and business needs. Supports the setup and execution of conferences, meetings, and special events by preparing event spaces, greeting and assisting clients and guests, and providing exceptional customer service throughout the event lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities

  • Sets up, installs, adjusts, and connects audio, visual, and computer equipment in various environments for events, academic instruction, or meetings according to established requirements and requests.

  • Answers questions and provides information regarding event setup, AV equipment and functionality to individuals and groups based on established materials and standards.

  • Performs on-site event room setup, reconfiguration, detailing, and post-event cleanup to ensure spaces meet event specifications and customer expectations.

  • Greets customers and guests, assists with event registration and wayfinding, answers routine questions, and provides support during event execution.

  • Guides and trains student employees in event setup procedures, customer service standards, and basic AV support.

  • Assists with troubleshooting basic AV equipment and coordinating event logistics to ensure successful event operations.

We are seeking a Production Coordinator to support the setup and execution of events at the Discovery Building (330 N. Orchard St.). This essential role is responsible for coordinating and executing event and AV setups for conferences, meetings, lectures, and other special events. The Production Coordinator prepares rooms to event specifications, assists guests with basic AV troubleshooting, supports event operations, and helps ensure the smooth execution of events. Exceptional customer service is a cornerstone of this position, as the successful candidate will interact regularly with campus partners, conference attendees, presenters, and guests.

Schedule

The primary schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Work outside of these hours, including evenings and occasional weekends, will be required based on event schedules and operational needs.

  • Performs basic and routine hardware and software checks to ensure proper functionality and security requirements are met
  • Answers questions and provides information regarding AV equipment and functionality to individuals and groups based on set material and standards

Compensation:

$21.00 per hour

-Plus an additional $2.50 per hour for night hours worked (6pm-6am).

-Plus an additional $0.80 per hour for weekend hours worked.

-Plus Time and a half per hour for hours worked on designated legal

holidays.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience 6 months or more, providing customer service in a professional setting.

  • Ability to troubleshoot basic technology and AV equipment issues.

  • Ability to lift and move equipment and furnishings as required for event setup and teardown.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with audio-visual equipment, including microphones, projectors, presentation systems, and video conferencing platforms.

  • Experience supporting meetings, conferences, or special events.

  • Familiarity with event diagrams, room setup specifications, and event management software.

Education:

High School Diploma - Preferred
