Job Summary:

This position will report to the Grants and Contracts Manager in the Department of Radiology within the School of Medicine and Public Health. It is our departmental mission to foster and support innovative research! We are actively engaged in exciting research in a number of areas. Our research projects are supported by federal and private grants and extensive collaboration with multiple industrial partners. This position will work closely with the Medical Imaging and Research Support (MIRS) team, investigators in the Department of Radiology and collaborating departments, and with the SMPH Dean's Office and Office of Research and Sponsored Programs on campus. This position will be responsible for pre-award research administration tasks, including new proposal submissions, budgeting for proposals, review and negotiation of contracts; semiannual and annual reporting of all submitted and awarded grants and contracts; and subcontracts and academic support services agreements with consultants.

Responsibilities:

Works directly with principal investigator and/or research staff to identify funding opportunities and prepare and route proposals for submission to sponsor. Reviews subsequent award terms and conditions and facilitates award setup and administration.
  • 30% Prepares and routes proposals, award documents, and sponsored project agreements according to established policies and procedures while adhering closely to deadlines
  • 30% Reviews proposal budgets and ensures allowability and accuracy of requested costs per sponsor and campus guidelines
  • 30% May work with campus partners to establish new accounts in the financial accounting system
  • 10% May identify funding opportunities and disseminate to principal investigators

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
- Experience working with contractual agreements and/or accounting/financial systems.
- Experience with federal and non-federal payors/sponsors.

Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of substantial involvement in research and sponsored programs working with pre-award grant administration, including electronic grant submissions, and reporting.
- Experience working in a healthcare and/or higher education environment.

The successful candidate will possess and/or demonstrate the following:
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Ability to work independently and research questions to find answers.
- Willingness to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively via phone calls, virtual meetings, and email.

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

It is anticipated this position will be remote and requires work be performed at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $58,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The starting salary for the position is $58,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Additional Information:

The department will not be able to support a request for a J-1 waiver. If you choose to pursue a waiver and apply for our position, neither the UW nor UWMF will reimburse you for your legal or waiver fees.
