Job Summary:

Join a research‑driven team advancing imaging science at UW–Madison. The Department of Radiology is seeking a Post‑Award Accountant to support the financial management of our growing sponsored research portfolio at the Wisconsin Institutes for Medical Research (WIMR). In this role, you will work closely with principal investigators and research staff to manage award budgets, review expenditures, prepare financial reports and invoices, ensure compliance with sponsor and federal regulations, and support accurate modality and radius billing for WIMR Imaging. Your work will directly strengthen the financial integrity and operational efficiency of our research programs.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • It is anticipated that this position will be remote and requires work be performed at an offsite, non-campus work location, with only rare on-site meetings as requested by the department.

  • Candidates who demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities, will be given first consideration, Knowledge of accounting principles and financial management practices, Knowledge of financial reporting, invoicing, and billing procedures, Knowledge of enterprise financial systems, Knowledge of Excel and financial analysis tools.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists principal investigators with financial management of sponsored program budgets and directs day-to-day fiscal transactions
  • Prepares and processes financial reporting and/or invoicing information
  • Provides expertise and advice related to procurement and allowable charges
  • Reviews financial expenditures for accuracy on sponsored grants and contracts

Compensation:

The starting salary for the position is $68,000; but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Professional experience in accounting, financial management, and/or grants administration.

  • Experience preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and/or managing budgets.

  • Experience using enterprise financial systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

·       At least 1 year of experience with post-award accounting.

·       Experience in an academic, research, and/or healthcare environment.

Education:

Associate’s degree Preferred
