About the Position:


This Motor Vehicle Operator - Light is in the Division of Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M), Department of Transportation Services in the operational area of Fleet Services at the University of Wisconsin - Madison.

Under the general supervision of the Fleet Supervisor, this position operates various types of vehicles related to fleet operations including passenger cars and light duty trucks.  The MVO – Light position fuels, cleans, and parks cars in a defined and orderly fashion for a daily rental operation. They will also assist with part and vehicle pickups and deliveries, which require independent navigation to various locations in and around Madison. This position also assists with snow removal during the winter and outside work throughout the year in all weather conditions.

Full-Time: 100% FTE

Hours generally scheduled on site Monday through Friday 6:00AM to 2:30PM. Occasional nights, weekends and holidays may be required for this position.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Cleans, fuels, and parks cars and clears snow for daily rental operations

  • Unloads, stages, inspects, and inventories freight to ensure accuracy and acceptable condition according to established rules and regulations
  • Inspects, maintains, and repairs vehicles daily based on established requirements
  • Identifies and reports damaged equipment and products to the appropriate entities
  • Picks up and delivers freight to and from internal and external affiliates as directed
  • Operates vehicles and other equipment; and navigates vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic in congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and parking lots

Compensation:

$20.00 hourly minimum 

The minimum rate for this position is $20.00, but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license that Meets UW Risk Management Standards 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work outside in all any multiple types of weather conditions
  • Ability to independently navigate locations in Madison and surrounding areas

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent -Preferred
