Job Summary:
The Member Services Professional Intern is responsible for supporting the Member Services department in the day-to-day operations of Rec Well facilities. This limited-term position is under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director and Coordinators of Member Services.
The intern will gain valuable experience in recreation and leadership through active involvement in enhancing the member experience, supporting recruitment and retention initiatives, managing rental equipment and merchandise, utilizing campus recreation software, scheduling, budgeting, and conducting data analysis. Additionally, the Member Services Professional Intern will play a key role in assisting with the onboarding and training of 60-100 student employees.
Responsibilities:
Arranges logistics, provides broad administrative oversight, and implements programmatic changes for one or more recreational programs to efficiently provide a broad range of recreational services to the institutional community. Develops marketing and communication materials for promotion to students, staff, and customers; and assists with recreational program staff recruitment and development.
- 25% Coordinates logistics for events and programs
- 15% Develops targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals
- 25% Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised operational policies and procedures
- 15% Assists in implementing the staffing resource allocation plan including hiring, training, and supervision
- 10% Prepares and monitors budgets and purchases expenditures as needed
- 10% Engages in the Rec Well professional internship development curriculum, all staff meetings, and other professional development responsibilities and opportunities.
Tasks:
- Assist in the management of all aspects of Member Services, including staffing, sales/refunds
locker rentals, tours, and membership sales, as well as customer inquiries and concerns.
- Assist with the overall management of comprehensive campus recreation software, Fusion.
- Participate in member recruitment fairs, presentations, and initiatives.
- Assist with establishing and implementing short- and long-term goals, strategic initiatives,
policies, operating procedures, and assessments related to member services.
- Assist in planning and support of Divisional events such as SOAR.

Education:
Required
H.S. Diploma
Preferred
Bachelor's Degree
Achieve or advancing towards Bachelor's degree or higher in recreation, sports administration, higher education or a related field.
Qualifications:
A successful candidate in this position would have previous experience:
- In a higher education setting for a minimum of one year (Preferred)
- Hiring, supervising, and mentoring student employees
- Managing merchandise, equipment, and inventories
- Customer service experience
- Utilizing management software including Fusion, SubItUp, Connect2Concepts, and/or Microsoft 365
- Operating recreation, sport, and/or fitness areas
Work Schedule:
Typical working hours are weekdays from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with flexibility for shift coverage, training, and meeting schedules.
Work Type:
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
Appointment Type, Duration:
Terminal appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended based on need and/or funding.
Salary:
$22.00 HOURLY
This position is not eligible for housing, benefits, or health insurance.
Additional Information:
Professional Internship
- The summer internship is a limited-term position lasting 400 hours.
- Employment is expected to run approximately from June 2025 - August 2025.
- Compensation is $22 per hour, based on an average of 40 hours per week.
- The intern will receive up to 10 days of unpaid vacation.
- This position may require occasional evening and weekend hours.
