Job Summary:
The Medical Education Office within the UW School of Medicine & Public Health (UW-SMPH) is looking for a Medical Educational Course Coordinator to work as part of a team of 8 in coordinating a wide variety of program logistics and curricular activities across four years of the MD program. Coordinator responsibilities include working within an academic calendar to schedule students into various didactic and clinical settings, managing evaluation and absence processes, overseeing communication with local and statewide health systems as well as community-based physicians, student services staff and clinical department-based coordinators. This position must establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty and staff, as well as staff from other health systems and clinics, therefore highly effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to demonstrate effective and professional problem solving are essential qualities for success.
- This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, as an offsite, non-campus work location
- Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00a.m.- 4:30p.m. , but can be determined at the time of hire
- Terminal 12 month appointment
- This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding.

Key Job Responsibilities:
- Serves as resource to advise learners of program/institutional policies and procedures
- Serves as the primary contact for the program, liaising with those directly associated with the program, institutional offices, and affiliated teaching sites, in and out of the state of Wisconsin
- Orients department and affiliate site coordinators and teaching faculty to curriculum, policies, and logistics
- Schedules evaluations, assessments, and teaching sessions, and creates and maintains the academic year calendar and/or clinical rotation schedules
- Maintains accurate records of the curriculum, evaluations, and participation
- Contributes to the design, development and implementation of curriculum, evaluations and both computer-based and performance-based assessments
- Maintains a thorough understanding of accreditation program requirements, regulatory requirements, and hospital/clinical setting and program policies to ensure accreditation and compliance with regulatory bodies and pertinent policies

The Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) in the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH), supports SMPH by overseeing all aspects of various health professions education programs: from admissions programs and curricular oversight to student services and multicultural initiatives across our statewide campus. It also is responsible for successfully meeting all national accreditation requirements as well as timely compliance with all health system, school, campus, and legislative policies and regulations. The OAA fosters a professional atmosphere to prepare health care providers and public health professionals at all stages of career development.
Compensation:
- The expected salary range for this position is $62,000 up to $68,000 for highly experienced candidates and actual pay within this range will depend on experience and qualifications.
Required Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience within a higher education setting.
- Experience in managing complex schedules, coordinating program logistics, effective communication, and successfully working with staff at satellite locations.
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of medical education and/or clinic systems
- Experience with distance learning
- Experience with educational program administration platforms and learning management systems.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
