Job Summary:

This position will provide support to the University of Wisconsin Survey Center Mail and Data Entry (M&DE) Supervisor for all M&DE projects in that department. The M&DE department provides mail and data entry services for all University of Wisconsin Survey Center projects. This includes preparation and assembly of complex mailings, handling and tracking monetary incentives and postage, CASES instrument debugging, data entry into Access databases, and planning and organization of the various projects in the field that utilize self-administered questionnaires. In addition, this position will be responsible for receipt and updating of returned questionnaires in the project database, respondent contact information updating, and other administrative tasks. The position serves as a backup to the M&DE department Supervisor and will share responsibility in meeting M&DE production goals and overseeing quality control. Proficiency in Access, including ability to develop queries is desired but not required. As a Lead Worker this position regularly oversees and assigns work to Student Hourly production staff. Managing daily work assignments, training on project protocols, answering questions from production staff, and maintaining production schedules are part of the daily tasks of this position.

Responsibilities:

Supports the development, design, and implementation of research projects according to plans, under the general direction of faculty and/or senior research personnel, following established protocols and guidelines to support and advance research in a given field under general supervision.
  • 60% Assists with conducting experiments or interviews, collecting and analyzing data, and documenting results according to established protocols
  • 5% Assists in composing and organizing research reports and manuscripts to provide updates on unit objectives
  • 5% Schedules logistics and secures resources for research supplies, equipment, and facilities
  • 5% Tracks supply and equipment inventory levels and places replenishment orders
  • 5% Maintains organization of research records according to established policies and procedures
  • 20% Serve in the capacity of Lead Worker for the UW Survey Center, including overseeing other Research Coordinators performing social science data collection

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated proficiency in detail-oriented work.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as assembly of letters for social science research in a consistent and timely manner that allows us to meet project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a mail room setting, in survey research, incentive handling.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary:

Minimum $19.83 HOURLY
Depending on Qualifications
The expected salary range for this position is $19.83 up to $25.05 for highly experienced candidates. The full salary range is $19.83 to $36.88. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.
