Job Summary:

The Mead Witter School of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for a full-time Lecturer of Music History. Preference will be given to candidates with successful teaching at the advanced level. We seek a colleague who will join a nationally renowned faculty and staff and contribute to our program through teaching courses that develop and support a wide range of musical endeavors.

Employees in this role are expected to perform the following responsibilities:

Instruction:
1. Teach the required entry level Music History course series.
2. Teach 2 additional musicology classes each semester based on area need, lecturer expertise, and student enrollment.
3. Conduct regular office hours.

Department/Area Responsibilities:
1. Attend all departmental and area meetings as required.
2. Supervise teaching assistants

Responsibilities:

Facilitates classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction and assists with instructional development and design for a single course or series of courses within an academic discipline to support the delivery of quality instruction. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record.
  • 60% Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
  • 15% Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
  • 25% Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

Qualifications:

1-2 years of previous experience with Music History instruction at the college level.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $50,000 ACADEMIC (9 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The salary will be paid out over 9 months. Employees in this position can expect to receive benefits such as sick leave; competitive insurance and saving accounts; and retirement benefits. Employees have the option to continue benefits for the full calendar year.
