Job Summary:

The Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking an Interventional Pulmonologist to join our Interventional Pulmonary Medicine Program. The Interventional Pulmonary Medicine Program at the University of Wisconsin Madison is busy and growing. Established in 2008, the IP program sees patients from a 5-state area, performs more than 1000 procedures (diagnostic and interventional) per year, and evaluates approximately 30 new outpatient and inpatient consults per week. An IP fellowship was established in 2014 and trains one fellow per year. The IP faculty have academic non-financial appointments in the Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Patients are seen at the University Hospital and Veterans Administration Hospital, and a community-based teaching hospital. A planned expansion will add multidisciplinary lung cancer clinics and procedure days at a university facility currently under construction. The Interventional Pulmonary Medicine Program has close relationships with Otolaryngology, Anesthesiology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and the Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Responsibilities:

This position will have clinical responsibilities including provision of care (inpatient and outpatient) for patients with complex airway, pleural, and pulmonary diseases. Additional clinical responsibilities could include lung transplant, oncology, interstitial lung disease, general pulmonary disease, and/or critical care. The position will include clinical teaching of fellows, residents, and medical students, with an opportunity to participate in didactic teaching.

Physicians hired on the CHS track will have protected effort for educational and/or research objectives in alignment with the missions of the Division/Department/School. The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
