Job Summary:

The Division of Infectious Disease within the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, School of Medicine and Public Health is recruiting a full-time physician to join our faculty. The division includes 30 faculty, ten Advanced Practice Providers, and five Fellows. The division's faculty lead cutting-edge research programs in antimicrobial drug resistance, antimicrobial stewardship, antimicrobial drug discovery, antimicrobial pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, infection control and prevention, C.difficile, fungal infections, transplant infectious diseases, HIV, HCV, infectious disease and social justice, global health, microbiome, virology, diabetic foot infections, biofilm infections, and immunology.

Collaboration is an integral part of our approach. Focusing on team science, the division's faculty collaborate with some of the world's top scientists here at UW. The outstanding research environment at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which is home to some of the top basic science departments in the nation and a vibrant scientific community, is a unique asset of our program. In addition, our researchers have close relationships with the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR), which provides support for all aspects of clinical/translational research including intramural funding opportunities, and the Bureau of Communicable Diseases at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, which supports infection control and disease surveillance for the whole population of the state.   • This position is full or part time, 50-100%

  • This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

  • This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations.  The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and repeated every four years.

  • Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles: Professor (CHS) or Associate Professor (CHS) or Assistant Professor (CHS). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist. 

  • Candidates who demonstrate the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities, will be given be given first consideration

Key Job Responsibilities:

The position will participate in teaching (clinical and classroom) of ID fellows, residents, and medical students. University and community service will be expected as appropriate.

As Clinical Health Services (CHS) faculty, this position will also be expected to engage in active collaborative research, and may also have an appropriate appointment at the Madison Veterans Administration Hospital.

The position will have responsibilities for both inpatient and outpatient clinical care at UW Health approved locations in general infectious disease (ID), orthopedic ID, transplant ID, travel and tropical medicine, infection control, and/or antimicrobial stewardship.

Compensation:

Negotiable, 12 month

Required Qualifications:

  • WI medical license by start date of position.

  • ABIM Board-certified or board eligible in infectious disease by start date of position.

  • Completion of a US internal medicine residency and fellowship trained in infectious disease medicine by the start date of the position. Fellows are welcome to apply.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • For an appointment at Associate Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track.

Education:

MD or DO, or equivalent is required
