Job Summary:

The Wisconsin Union is looking for a Food Service Supervisor to join our teams that run the Sett Pub and the Memorial Union Terrace. Located next to Camp Randall in Union South, the Sett Pub is host to Game Day Badger Bashes and watch parties. We serve classic pub food to students and the public. The Memorial Union Terrace is located on the shores of Lake Mendota and features some of our most popular units. This position is key to ensuring these venues operate efficiently, produce high-quality food and meet our customer service standards. The successful person in this role will have confidence in directing, training, and correcting student staff. Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds occasionally needed; Ability to work outside in inclement weather

Work Schedule and Location:

100% onsite

Variable schedule based on business needs -including nights and weekends.  The schedule varies but is set for each semester and the summer term. During the academic year this position is located at the Sett Pub in Union South, during the summer term, this position is located at the Memorial Union Terrace.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Works special events like Badger Bash, Graduation, Welcome Week Activities – etc.
  • Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods
  • Leads and provides exceptional customer service, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation, catering, and associated activities
  • Assigns and coordinates the day-to-day activities of food service staff
  • Develops and schedules logistics and menus for daily and catering operations
  • Enforces alcohol policies and law

Compensation:

The expected starting salary is $22.50/ hour. This position will also receive additional pay for weekend and night hours.

Required Qualifications:

  • Food service or restaurant experience as a supervisor or team lead. Experience can be either front of house or back of house.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an establishment that serves alcohol

Certifications:

  • ServSafe Certificate required or able to obtain within 6 months of hire

  • City of Madison Alcohol Operator License required or able to obtain within 6 months of hire
