Job Summary:

The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) is seeking a collaborative and motivated professional to join the Student Engagement team. The Student Engagement Team directly oversees the federal work study program and student employment, OSFA Success Services, and the frontlines services of the office. The Student Engagement Team seeks to champion a holistic engagement approach to foster opportunities for student belonging and achievement.

The professional in this role will be responsible for day-to-day support for the UW-Madison federal work study program. The position will assist in the transition to Workday and ensure the accuracy of federal work study spending and reporting in Workday. This role will include providing training and support to administrators and supervisors on and off campus. The FWS Program Specialist will manage the hiring and billing process for off-campus federal work study employment, while assisting to foster and maintain strong campus & community partnerships.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for a variety of professional level work across a variety of administrative service areas including budget, finance, procurement, and human resources with impact across the institution in support of unit or institutional goals.
  • 25% Implements and executes established policies and procedures for a designated work unit to adhere to unit objectives and to align with established strategies
  • 20% Schedules logistics and secures resources for a designated work unit to contribute to the day-to-day operational success
  • 20% Analyzes data and trends, compiles progress reports, and provides appropriate recommendations or conclusions in support of the assigned operational work unit(s)
  • 10% Assists, recommends, and advises staff on unit or program administrative issues, personnel matters, and budgetary problems
  • 5% Serves on committees and attends meetings, representing the interests of the unit or program
  • 15% Participates in development, maintenance, and monitoring of federal work study allotment and spending, and share updates and results to leadership when appropriate.
  • 5% DEM is committed to the highest standard of service. This position will be a role model by practicing exemplary and respectful behaviors in all interactions.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates should have strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Individuals should be detail-oriented and have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively. Candidates should also demonstrate strong technical background and experience with PageUp and/or Workday is strongly preferred.

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
