Job Summary:

The Division of Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison dedicates itself to the mission of providing athletic opportunities to a wide range of students in an environment in which all student-athletes can achieve their academic and competitive goals. The Division strives to provide equitable opportunities for all student-athletes and fosters the principles of sportsmanship, respect and fair play on the field of play. The Division sponsors teams in 23 sports competing under the regulatory guidelines established by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Big Ten Conference, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) and the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA).

Responsibilities:

Manages team scheduling, travel logistics, budget and maintenance, and monitoring of compliance and athlete eligibility for an intercollegiate athletics program to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the program.
  • 5% Monitors student-athlete academic eligibility and status to ensure compliance with established rules and regulations
  • 30% Evaluates existing strategies, policies, and procedures and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program enhancement; ensures compliance with existing requirements
  • 25% Schedules logistics, secures resources, and finalizes team scheduling of facilities and travel for games, practices, camps, clinics, and special events
  • 5% Manages the unit or program budget
  • 10% May travel with assigned team to ensure compliance with applicable state and university rules
  • 5% May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
  • 5% Oversee the entire setup of all technical aspects of practices and matches including: video recording, network development, and computer connections
  • 5% Manage scouting breakdown and dissemination of opponent and Wisconsin film exchange; create video dissemination plan for sending video from office to coaches and student-athletes using online portals and student-athlete i-Pads
  • 10% Create and disseminate statistical packages to coaching staff following matches and practices; scouts and breakdowns all practice drills using statistical software; scout and breadkown all WI and opponent matches

Education:

Qualifications:

- A minimum of (5) years of experience coaching volleyball
- Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot computer and technical issues in regard to video, software and networking
- Knowledge and ability to use Data Project software (i.e. Data Volley and Data Video)
- Knowledge and ability to use video editing software
- Ability to travel and work nights, weekends and holidays, as required by events
- Strong communication skills in working with coaching staff and program partners

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Conditions of Appointment: This is a 100% Academic Staff appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is also included.
