Job Summary:
This position is designed to lead the Applied REIT track, one of four tracks in the Masters Program in the department of Real Estate and Urban Land Economics. The duties include teaching the two-semester capstone course, prep courses, recruiting and managing an external Board of Advisors, accompanying students to NAREIT conferences, and introducing them to promising careers in real estate. The position is a high-profile one within the Wisconsin School of Business (WSB) and within the network of WSB alumni. As such, the leader of the A-REIT track will be expected to meet frequently with other faculty (including other real estate track leaders), with alumni, and with practitioners who work on the buy-side, the sell-side, or the service-providing side of the REIT industry. The teaching load for this position will be 18 credits per academic year.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Provides classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction, including grading
Accompany students to conferences and to visit REIT managers or REITs
Assesses learner performance and prepares reports recommending instructional improvements
Designs curriculum and/or techniques for instruction in a disciplinary area and suggests new ways of effective instruction in courses within that discipline
Presents evaluations of teaching methods and techniques to those in the institution and elsewhere
Develops grant proposals for instructional development and may serve as principal or co-principal investigator on grants to develop new teaching methods in the discipline
Supervises the day-to-day activities of work unit employees involved in instructional support as needed
Coach students on presentations to an external Board of Advisors
May administer budget and personnel for instructional grants and programs
Develops teaching techniques that enhance course effectiveness in alignment with desired outcomes and established strategy and trains faculty and other instructional staff in use of said instructional techniques and programs
Assists in defining the objectives of the program and plays a major role in carrying out program duties

Required Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in Real Estate or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
CFA or equivalent
CPA or equivalent
Education:
Bachelor's degree required.
Master’s degree preferred. A minimum of 20-25 years of real estate industry may substitute for the advanced degree requirement.
