Job Summary:

The Department of Residence Life in University Housing is recruiting a Conduct and Assistance Coordinator to join our team!

The Residence Life Conduct and Assistance team works closely with campus partners, such as the Office of Conduct and Community Standards (OSCCS), Office of Student Assistance and Support (OSAS), and University Health Services (UHS) Mental Health to support and educate students during their most challenging times.

The Conduct and Assistance Coordinator is vital to accomplishing these priorities. With supervision from the Assistant Director of Conduct and Assistance, this position is responsible for adjudicating non-academic misconduct cases for all residence hall students using an educational and compassionate approach, in accordance with the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System (UWS) Administrative Code, Chapters 17 & 18, and the University Housing Student Handbook. The Conduct and Assistance Coordinator plays a major role in case creation and management in the Maxient software system, as well as training and assisting other hearing officers in the nonacademic misconduct process. As a member of the campus-wide Behavior Intervention Team, the Conduct and Assistance Coordinator supports students in crisis through individual meetings, referrals to campus partners, and case management.

Responsibilities:

Oversees programming and support for residents living in campus housing, responds to emergency situations, and helps to create an inclusive and safe living community.
  • 10% Implements campus, divisional, and departmental priorities, focusing on community, student development, and academic success
  • 20% Coordinates and delivers centralized training of student and professional staff
  • 5% Assists with creating inclusive and engaged residential communities that focus on student academic success
  • 35% Assists staff in responding to crisis and student conduct situations according to established policies and procedures
  • 15% Triages and responds to emergency situations according to established policies and procedures in partnership with emergency personnel and law enforcement if necessary
  • 15% Manages Maxient database and other confidential records, including case creation, reviewing police logs, etc.

Tasks:

  • Coordinates with campus partners regarding resident misconduct, resident assistance and support, and alcohol and drug education and prevention efforts.
  • Provides support and assists as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency.
  • Serves as a conduct officer.
  • Serves as a conflict mediator.
  • Serves on the Behavior Intervention team.

Education:

Preferred
Master's Degree
Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or a related field with relevant work experience.

Qualifications:

Required:
- At least one year (two years part-time) experience adjudicating student conduct cases at the undergraduate level
- At least one year (two years part-time) experience providing support to college students in crisis

Preferred:
- Post-undergraduate employment (part-time or full-time) experience in Housing or Residence Life
- Experience using Maxient conduct management software

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $56,160 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
This is a full-time appointment. The starting annual salary is $56,160 or higher based on qualifications and includes a competitive retirement and benefits package.

Primary schedule for this position is daytime business hours, 7:45am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Schedule alterations as operation and position expectations demand. Scheduled will be determined upon hire.
