Job Summary:

Take that next step in your hospitality career as our new Catering Supervisor at the Pyle Center! It is all here at the Wisconsin Union, Pyle Center.  In your catering supervisor role, you will lead food preparation and catering setup and mentor student team members in their catering production work and learning. From morning breaks to VIP events, no two days are the same. In this position, you will also help with other dining-related efforts, such as inventory and ensuring we have a safe, sanitary dining experience behind the scenes and in our front-of-house. Physical Demands:

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently needed

Work Schedule and Location:

               100% onsite

               Variable schedule-including nights and weekends to support events.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Assigns and coordinates the day-to-day activities of food service staff
  • Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods
  • Develops and schedules logistics and menus for daily and catering operations
  • Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Leads and provides exceptional customer service, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation, catering, and associated activities

Compensation:

The expected starting salary is 22.50/ hour. This position will also receive additional pay for weekend and night hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Food service, restaurant, hotel experience, and/or customer service experience

Certifications:

  • Serv-Safe Certificate required or able to obtain within 6 months of hire

  • Drivers' License – valid and meets UW Risk Management Standard

  • City of Madison Alcohol Operator License required or able to obtain within 6 months of hire
