Job Summary:

The Student Outreach Coordinator for the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) organizes the development and delivery of outreach programs, with the goal of expanding the ways the broader community and pre-college populations can engage with CALS prior to a college search process. These efforts include identifying new partnership and programming opportunities and may include the responsibility for staffing. The Student Outreach Coordinator also assists with policy development and organizes resources to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local communities. The Student Outreach Coordinator strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. This role reports to the Assistant Dean for Student Recruitment and Outreach in support of the College's enrollment goals and is a member of the CALS Office of Academic Affairs. The individual filling this role must work well with students and guests, faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners in a cooperative and collaborative atmosphere.

The Office of Academic Affairs serves as the academic dean's office for all undergraduate students in the college and works with departments to maintain all academic programs including graduate and undergraduate programs. CALS offers 23 undergraduate majors, plus an undecided and exploring option, spanning a wide array of disciplines and also provides college advising services for students exploring majors and academic interests. The Office of Academic Affairs administers the college prospective student outreach and recruitment, undecided and exploratory advising services, career services, honors programs, QuickStart summer program, study abroad, scholarship programs, curriculum and advising oversight, and other academic and student affairs. The office is a team-based environment and works in close collaboration with academic and administrative departments to serve all students through their time on campus and into future career paths.

Responsibilities:

Organizes the development and delivery of outreach programs, including the responsibility for staffing. Assists with policy development and organizes resources to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences.
  • 20% Directs the implementation of program policies and procedures
  • 20% Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships to promote the outreach program
  • 20% Schedules and secures logistics and resources in support of an outreach program
  • 15% Schedules day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers
  • 20% Identifies opportunities for program improvement or new outreach program development
  • 5% Supports CALS Office of Academic Affairs initiatives and programming

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
-Experience coordinating logistics for outreach programs, fairs, workshops, etc.
-Demonstrated strength in communication skills, both verbal and written to include: experience presenting to large groups (both in-person and virtually); developing presentation content; development of presentation resources/materials, etc.
-Multicultural awareness and competence; ability to work in a diverse environment and serve students and families and community partners from a wide variety of backgrounds
-Strong organizational and time-management skills that include: problem-solving, multi-tasking, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines while paying attention to accuracy and details
-Works collaboratively and cultivates relationships with internal and external partners (e.g., internal colleagues, school districts, students and families, faculty and staff, community partners, etc.)
-Experience using computer software/programs (e.g., Zoom, Teams, and/or WebEx; word processing; spreadsheets; email; databases, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:
-General marketing and/or social media skills (e.g, Facebook; Twitter; Instagram; LinkedIn; website management/maintenance; paid media, etc.)
-Experience with Student outreach, recruitment, or student services

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location. Normal hours are 7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional nights and weekends may be required for this position.

Salary:

Minimum $50,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The anticipated salary range for this position is $50,000 - $64,750. However, final salary will depend on experience and qualifications. Employees in this position can expect to receive benefits such as generous vacation, holidays, and paid time off; competitive insurances and savings accounts; retirement benefits. -A criminal background check will be conducted on the selected candidate.
