Job Summary:

We are in search of Assistant Supervisors to join our Building Services supervisor team! This is a supervisory role that leads and oversees the work of Facilities Technicians and Custodial staff ensuring facilities are properly maintained for residence hall and dining locations. Qualified candidates possess previous custodial or maintenance experience. Previous leadership or supervisory experience is a plus!

This position includes a generous benefits package -- including state employee insurance and retirement, paid vacation, personal holiday, and sick leave! 40 hours full-time with opportunities for overtime.

Responsibilities:

Supervises and/or inspects the work of custodial staff to ensure the cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of institutional property; and assists in emergency planning and response.
  • 20% Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables
  • 5% Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances, reports issues to appropriate entities
  • 5% Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as needed
  • 5% Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs
  • 5% Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice
  • 35% Assists in the development, scheduling, inspection, and supervision of operational work plans and/or staff for an assigned unit
  • 5% Assists with planning and implementation of facility emergency and hazardous response policies and procedures
  • 10% Develops and implements the preventative maintenance program for small equipment and
    projects; conducts repairs as necessary
  • 10% Responds to and resolves urgent or emergency elevator, mechanical, temperature, and
    safety issues in residence halls and dining units

Tasks:

  • Assists in creating, leading, and participating in a collaborative team environment
  • Assists with coordinating vendors, outside contractors and physical plant staff
  • Assists with overseeing building operations [interior and exterior] to ensure cleanliness and safety of use by all staff, residents and guests
  • Assists with resident and guest move in/out
  • Communicates in English via radio, phone, written instruction, and in person with staff, residents, guests, and supervisors
  • Communicates with residents to address housing needs and service requests
  • Completes work in occupied or vacant residence hall and dining spaces
  • Demonstrates and role models exceptional customer service
  • Drives vehicles to efficiently transport staff, move supplies, and urgently respond to emergency situations.
  • Incorporates and effectively uses technology to complete work
  • Manages and implements equipment and supplies inventories
  • Provides support and assists as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency
  • Responds to safety concerns, fire alarms, smoke detectors, and systems operations in coordination with University Police and Fire
  • Supervises and leads the work of staff and student workers
  • Trains and ensures compliance to prescribed cleaning standards

Education:

Qualifications:

Required:
-Six months of previous experience in a custodial or maintenance field

Preferred:
-One year of previous continuous employment
-Six months of previous leadership or supervisory experience

License/Certification:

Preferred
Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards
Valid drivers license Required for 2nd & 3rd Shift Only

Work Schedule:

Primary schedules below. Schedule will be set upon hire.

Between 7am and 5pm Monday through Fridays (8 hrs shifts) and weekends as assigned. Schedule to be set upon hire

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Minimum $23.00 HOURLY
Depending on Qualifications
This is a full-time appointment. The starting hourly wage is $23.00 or higher based on qualifications and includes a competitive retirement and benefits package.
