Job Summary:

In a supervisory role, the Box Office Manger will assist the Assistant Director of Ticketing & Patron Services and the Arts Ticketing Website Administrator in managing the successful day to day activities of the Campus Arts Ticketing Box Office in Memorial Union as well as four satellite locations. As a mentor, this position directly oversees student staff. Candidates will demonstrate leadership and managerial capabilities, a high level of dependability and independence, attention to detail, flexibility, and a friendly outgoing personality. 

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Reconciles daily box office receipts, prepares transmittals and deposits, and administers accounting reports for cash flow and ticket revenue
  • May hire, train, schedule, and supervise student and/or staff members
  • Work with student staff to ensure the smooth operation of the box office and high levels of customer service are being offered.

  • Manages computerized ticketing system including software changes, updates and formats, hardware maintenance and communication with software vendor
  • Develops and implements plans for audience development and subscription ticket sales including publicity releases, print and media advertising, mailings, on-line ordering and other marketing and public relations campaigns
  • Supervises the front of house activities for productions including ushers and box office personnel
  • Work with campus partners and presenting organizations to determine the best strategies for selling tickets to each unique event.

Compensation:

The starting salary for the position is $56,112 - but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ Years of Previous Box Office experience, including overseeing ticketing and box office services
  • 1-3 years of experience in a supervisory role, preferably within a performing arts organization and/or University setting
  • 3+ years of customer service in the Ticketing industry, or similar setting
  • Knowledge and experience working with ticketing software (preferably AudienceView), ticketing IT, customer relations management, subscription sales, group sales, and training
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, direct, and effectively train/mentor student employees.
  • Ability to multi-task and problem solve
  • Flexibility in schedule and willing to adjust personal schedule to accommodate needs of Campus Arts Ticketing and the Wisconsin Union Theater

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Box Office experience, including overseeing ticketing and box office services.
  • Experience with ticketing software, preferably AudienceView
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at once

Education:

  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelors Degree or higher preferred.
