Job Summary:
The University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Science Division, Drug Delivery Core invites applications for one 9-month position at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor. The faculty member will join a division whose mission is to innovate through cutting-edge research in the pharmaceutical sciences, to educate through didactic and directed research contributions to the Doctor of Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences PhD, and Pharmacology and Toxicology BS programs, and to cultivate a nurturing community that supports scholarship and learning within the School of Pharmacy.
The faculty member will be responsible for establishing a high quality, independent, externally funded research program; supervising graduate students; and teaching courses in professional and graduate programs within the School of Pharmacy (https://pharmacy.wisc.edu). PharmD and Pharmaceutical Science graduate program teaching topics may include Drug Delivery Systems for Pharmacotherapy, Pharmaceutical Genetics and Immunotherapy, Polymeric Drug Delivery Systems, and the opportunity to contribute to elective pharmacy courses. The faculty member will contribute to the Pharmaceutical Sciences graduate program with responsibility for graduate student mentorship, teaching, and collaborative scholarship.

This position is part of the Wisconsin Research, Innovation and Scholarly Excellence (RISE) Initiative. Through accelerated and strategic faculty hiring, research infrastructure enhancement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and increased student and educational opportunities, RISE addresses complex societal challenges of importance to the state, nation and world. Building on UW–Madison’s strengths, RISE expands the University’s successful track record of connecting with communities and industry on collaborative solutions.
Over the next three academic years, UW–Madison will substantially increase current hiring levels, bringing 150 new RISE faculty to campus. Candidates hired through RISE will join a community of scholars working across disciplines, schools and colleges on research, teaching and outreach endeavors. The community will engage regularly in venues such as seminar series and colloquia to share ongoing projects and identify opportunities to work together. Compensation:
Negotiable, 9 month appointment

Required Qualifications:
Minimum of one year of postdoctoral research experience or relevant industrial experience that emphasizes pharmaceutical sciences, drug delivery, biomedical engineering, bioengineering and biomaterials at the time of application
Candidates are expected to demonstrate potential for establishing an independent and externally funded research program and teaching at the PharmD and graduate student level.
Preferred Qualifications:
Established research experience in biologics and protein delivery, cell-mediated delivery, cell engineering, gene editing/gene delivery, immunoengineering, AI-assisted drug delivery, toxicology and translational nanomedicine
Education:
PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or other related fields.
