Job Summary:
The Social Media Marketing Strategy Assistant Director is responsible for curating, planning, and posting engaging content across various social media platforms. This role works closely with the marketing and creative teams to develop cohesive strategies that align with brand identity and reach target audiences effectively. The role collaborates with the creative team to design visually appealing and brand-consistent posts, while also planning and writing captions for daily and weekly social media content, including stories.
Staying informed on the latest social media trends and best practices is essential to maintaining an innovative and impactful digital presence. The role involves regularly reviewing performance metrics to optimize content strategy and leveraging paid media tools, such as Meta, to drive engagement and revenue. Additionally, the Assistant Director manages budgets, timelines, and vendor relationships to ensure the success of paid media campaigns.
This position also supports internal brand storytelling initiatives, assists with day-to-day data reporting, and contributes to campaign strategy. A key part of the role is tracking and communicating campaign success on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. The Assistant Director will also work with the team to implement scalable, repeatable, and measurable social media methods, ensuring consistent improvement through performance tracking.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Develops operational plans in support of marketing projects and campaigns including staffing and resource allocation, and oversees execution of operations that adhere to deadlines and budgets
- Oversees creative development and project management processes for marketing activities
- Segments audiences, identifies marketing opportunities, evaluates competition, integrates marketing tactics, and measures marketing program results
- Develops, edits, monitors, and provides feedback on content

Compensation:
The minimum salary is $67,412, depending on qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:
- 1-3 years’ experience in social media marketing
- Experience with various social media platforms and analytics tools
- Strong understanding of branding principles
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated creativity and ability to think outside the box to develop innovative content and tell the story of Wisconsin Athletics in a compelling and dynamic way.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally
- Demonstrated strong work ethic, time management, and organizational skills
- Ability to simultaneously manage a high level of detail across multiple projects
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment in an office setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- One to three years of experience in social media marketing within collegiate athletics, professional sports, or an agency environment.
- Experience with Hootsuite or copywriting
- Work experience in paid media
Education:
Bachelor's degree preferred.

Conditions of Appointment: This is a 100% Academic Staff appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
