Job Summary:

This position in the Department of Economics, a large and complex department in the College of Letters & Science, assumes delegated authority from the Department Administrator to run the day-to-day operations of the academic programs. This position serves as the liaison between the academic programs, which consist of 1,700 undergraduate majors, 200+ masters students & 120+ PhD students, and the Department Administrator and Chair ensuring all needs are served and supported. This position also plans, coordinates and administers teaching assistant assignments, job market program, fellowship competitions, schedule of classes and supervises employees in charge of the various department academic programs.

Responsibilities include:

--Oversee and coordinate the PhD and MS job market programs
--Supervise academic programs staff
--Develop and maintain policies and procedures relating to the PhD, MS and Undergraduate programs
--Serve as the principal liaison between the program(s), University leadership and outside entities
--Manage all aspects of department TA process - assigning, training, budget & administrating
--Develop summer online budget to include personnel & resource needs
--Assists in developing the schedule of classes
--Lead the PhD fellowship/scholarship program

Responsibilities:

Provides leadership and managerial responsibility for one or more academic program(s), ensuring alignment with the university mission. Directs administrative oversight and academic curriculum development, ensuring optimal integration of student and faculty activities. Ensures resource allocation supports the program's primary objectives. Manages a team of professionals who support the program(s).
  • 20% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
  • 20% Collaborates with faculty members to develop student academic programs and agendas, directs implementation, and creates curricular structure including operational and logistical arrangements
  • 15% Formulates program strategies and goals, directs long-term planning, develops policies and procedures, and establishes and maintains new and emerging program materials
  • 15% Evaluates operations and outcomes to ensure alignment with organizational goals
  • 5% Serves as the principal liaison between the program, University leadership, and outside entities
  • 5% May provide guidance to faculty regarding funding, staffing, and space implications
  • 10% Manages student academic program(s)
  • 10% Manages all aspects of department TA process - assigning, training, budget & administrating

Education:

Required
Bachelor's Degree or three years similar work experience

Preferred
Master's Degree in higher education administration or similar field

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
- 3 years experience in higher education student services
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Excel
- High level of attention to accuracy and detail in a fast-paced work environment
- Strong communication skills (written, oral and electronic)
- Excellent public speaking skills for large and small audiences
- Ability to interact effectively with students, parents, faculty, staff, campus, colleagues, and prospective students
- Experience using on-line and/or cloud-based higher education software
- Experience with writing and implementing policies/guidelines for undergraduate, masters and/or PhD programs
- Experience with PhD fellowship/scholarship programs
- Experience with teaching assistant (TA) cyclical campus process
- Working knowledge of PhD program job market process

Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of schedule of classes in higher education
- 2 years supervisory experience

Full Time: 100%

This position WILL require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $95,824 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The typical starting salary for this position is $95,824 - $137,028 depending on qualifications and experience. Employees in this position can expect to receive benefits such as generous vacation, holidays and paid time off; competitive insurance and saving accounts; and retirement benefits.
