Job Summary:

This appointment will be in the 2025 to 2026 Pediatric Radiology Fellowship Program receiving advanced training in Pediatric Radiology.

Fellowship subspecialty training will allow graduates to independently practice diagnostic imaging specifically for the care of pediatric patients from the fetus through 18 years of age. Fellows will be trained in all systems (abdominal, central nervous system, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular) with an exposure to a wide range of pediatric diagnoses, including those managed in the acute care setting and by neonatology, pediatric surgery and pediatric medicine subspecialties. Imaging modalities will include radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, and positron emission tomography.

There is the possibility that this position could be extended for one additional year.

Responsibilities:

Fellowship responsibilities include supervised interpretation of fundamental and complex diagnostic imaging for children in all modalities, with provision of diagnostic imaging reports, to include review of patient charts and other relevant information as it relates to imaging interpretation; participation in routine communications and consultations with referring providers; regular participation in pediatric multidisciplinary conferences; guidance of imaging technologists during image acquisition; preparation for fluoroscopic and percutaneous procedures, including obtaining patient/family consent; and, supervising and teaching junior leaners such as radiology residents and medical students. Work will be carried out primarily at the University of Wisconsin American Family Children's Hospital, with a minority of work provided at UnityPoint Health-Meriter Hospital. Overnight and weekend shifts are incorporated into the fellowship to enhance experience with acute care cases and augmented independent functioning as the fellowship progresses. Fellows will have the opportunity to participate in clinical research and/or educational projects with the aim of submitting scholarly work for either publication or for meeting presentation.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every two years.
