Job Summary:

About the Senior Air Balancer Position:
This position works closely with digital control specialists, air balancers, fume hood program, and mechanical system experts to optimize the complex mechanical systems across campus. Work includes recommissioning, field work, project development, fault detection analysis, mechanical design, fume hood program management, and other methodologies on a wide range of mechanical systems. The position includes extensive field work troubleshooting and developing solutions for mechanical issues related to facility maintenance. This is a lead position that assists with the identification, development and scheduling of TAB work across the UW Campus. This position occasionally works nights, weekends and holidays.

The Division of Facilities Planning& Management (FP&M) is a full-spectrum service organization that builds, maintains, and operates the physical environment of UW-Madison in the university's education, research, and outreach activities. We are responsible for everything from the building projects that change the face of campus to the flowers
that beautify the grounds.

Responsibilities:

Installs, calibrates, adjusts, and repairs controls for various building systems (e.g., lighting, electricity, temperature) to ensure proper operation of equipment within an assigned facility. May balance air flow and certify laboratory ventilation systems.
  • 20% Monitors, tests, maintains, and repairs building control systems and related equipment according to established policies and procedures
  • 20% Receives, prioritizes, and responds to service requests according to established timelines and policies
  • 20% Identifies, troubleshoots, triages, and escalates system problems, equipment malfunctions and repair needs
  • 20% Performs scheduled preventative and routine maintenance and documents activity on equipment and systems to ensure optimal and safe operation
  • 20% Assists with the development and scheduling of TAB work across the UW Madison Campus

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of experience in Testing and Air Balancing (TAB) in a variety of complex building systems
- Experience as a team lead

Preferred Qualifications:
- NEBB and TABB Certification
- Experience with mechanical systems, facility maintenance/construction, electronics or controls, or related areas
- Excellent customer service skills
- Knowledge of proper safety precautions appropriate to the construction trades

License/Certification:

Required
Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards

Work Schedule:

The expected schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Minimum $43.00 HOURLY

The minimum hourly rate for this position is $43.00, but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

This position may requires working in or around animal and laboratory facilities on campus. Those working in or around animal facilities are required to complete an annual safety training and personnel medical evaluation form to gain clearance. We will provide trainings that will address hazards as well as how to safely perform job duties by, for example, following signage and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
