Job Summary:

The Workday Enterprise Solutions Team (WEST) is responsible for the administration and optimization of Workday and related systems for Finance, Human Resources, and Research Administration across the Universities of Wisconsin, while focusing on people, processes, and technology. The WEST Data and Reporting team supports data and reporting needs across the UW universities and the UW System through the development and maintenance of an enterprise data warehouse (the Enterprise Analytics Platform, EAP), Tableau dashboards, Workday reports, BIRT reports, Prism reports, Workday dashboards and discovery boards, and more.

We are seeking an experienced Reporting Team Lead to organize and lead the team responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing reports and dashboards in Workday and Prism Analytics. In addition to supervising your team of report developers, the person in this position will coordinate and manage a percentage of time dedicated to Workday report development from a selected group of individuals called the Reporting Cohort. This position will also serve as a trusted partner and expert in Workday reporting for WEST leadership.

To be successful in this position, you will need to intentionally collaborate with customers and peers across WEST and work to actively foster a respectful, inclusive and safe team environment.

Schedule will be determined with the selected finalist upon hire. The primary schedule will be during business hours on Monday through Friday beginning no later than 9:00AM CST and ending no earlier than 3:00PM CST. There is no expectation of on-call or off-hour work.  However, during a critical outage, working off hours and weekends may be required.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Works actively to foster a respectful, inclusive and safe team environment

  • Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised information technology operational policies and procedures impacting the institution
  • May create and monitor the unit budget and approve expenditures
  • Develops, plans, and directs staff implementation of information technology serving the institution
  • Serves as the subject matter expert to unit leadership regarding information technology operations and functions
  • Evaluates existing strategy and makes recommendations to information technology leadership for program enhancement

Contributes to report development when workload or complexity dictate

  • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees

Compensation:

Well qualified applicants can expect to earn between $115,000 - $150,000, with final salary based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3 years' experience supporting a technical team in at least one of the following: Direct supervision of student or professional staff or Leadership position without direct reports (e.g., Team Lead, Service Lead, etc.)
  • 5 years’ demonstrated knowledge and experience in developing and maintaining Workday Reports
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in data quality and accuracy
  • Ability to work collaboratively with customers and peers in a fast-paced, agile environment
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Workday Prism Analytics
  • Experience with Business Intelligence Reporting Tool (BIRT) in Workday
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and decision-making skills
  • Experience with iterative, team-oriented practices (e.g., Agile, Lean, DevOps)
  • Understanding of ETL best practices, data integration, data modeling, and data transformation
  • Proficiency in identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks
