Job Summary:

UW Madison’s Digital Publishing and Printing Services (DPPS) is one of the largest in-house print production centers within the State of Wisconsin government. Our new state-of-the-art facility is located on Madison’s east side (off campus) and offers free, on-site parking.

DPPS is seeking an experienced customer service representative to join the team in our digital print facility. In this role, you will use a combination of your print production experience and customer service skills to help serve the UW campus and beyond!

It is anticipated this position requires work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. This position is located at 2109 S. Stoughton Road, Madison WI. Per University policy, transportation between home and assigned work location is not payable/reimbursable and will be at the expense of the employee.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and provides detailed records of customer-owned inventory items

  • Provides direction, mentors, and cross trains members of the customer service team
  • Provides fulfillment services for customers including replenishment, paperwork management, and special event coordination

  • Coordinates production schedules and tracks print job progress to meet deadlines and ensure completion
  • Maintains detailed print records on projects and keep other records as required
  • Reviews complex orders for accurate funding information and enters billing into database
  • Prepares related technical written correspondence to clients, vendors, and departments
  • Understands state print purchasing requirements and regulations
  •  Consults with customers on complex print projects

  • Coordinates printing projects that use external vendors and maintains records as required

Systems Engineering & Operations (SEO) is the infrastructure and operations unit for DoIT. SEO provides physical and virtual hosting, storage, backup, and database infrastructure for campus needs as well as research computing resources.

Additionally, our Digital Publishing and Printing Service (DPPS) provides full-service digital media and a wide range of printing services for campus. Through a combination of in-house equipment and external vendors, we can service all your printing needs. We produce a wide variety of booklets, brochures, forms, envelopes, cards, flyers, posters, tickets, letterheads, newsletters, business cards, and even custom textbooks and course packets.

Compensation:

Starting salary will be based on experience and qualifications. Well qualified applicants can expect to earn an hourly rate between $25.00 - $27.50, with final salary based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated professional experience in customer service
  • Demonstrated professional experience in the commercial print industry
  • Broad understanding of digital prepress, digital print and print bindery functions
  • Basic computer and technology knowledge, including Excel and Microsoft platforms
  • Proven capability to organize workload, manage competing priorities, and meet strict deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to required qualifications, the most qualified candidates may also have the following preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with commercial print vendors
  • Experience organizing and maintaining customer-facing data and paperwork
  • Experience with print management software
  • Experience with commercial print estimating

Education:

H.S. Diploma - Preferred
