Job Summary:
As an instructional designer with the WCWPDS, you will be joining a group of dedicated professionals who work together to advance high-quality, innovative learning for public child welfare professionals and caregivers across Wisconsin. The Instructional Designer, in conjunction with WCWPDS colleagues and stakeholders, assesses, designs, develops, tests, publishes, maintains, and enhances competency-based online and blended learning resources and produces educational media and other course materials. The instructional designer will be able to apply learning theory and instructional design models in the consultation, selection, and application of educational methodologies and technologies. Responsibilities for this work include both instructional design and instructional technology development. As a member of a work team, the candidate must be able to work both independently and collaboratively.
The position will report to the Associate Director of the Wisconsin Child Welfare Professional Development System.
Responsibilities:
Designs, develops, and enhances instructional activities, programs, and curricula. Applies learning theory and instructional design models in the consultation, selection, and application of educational methodologies and technologies.
- 15% Designs and develops engaging, effective learning experiences which may be face-to-face, blended, and/or online
- 15% Designs, develops, organizes, maintains, and consults on instructional materials, activities, curricula, and assessment resources in accordance with current pedagogical practices, cognitive/learning science, and design tools and methods
- 15% Researches, designs, and/or acquires learning resources, technologies, materials, and/or processes to support learning
- 10% Provides training and technical support directly to learners in settings such as classrooms, labs, clinics, and distance learning mediums
- 10% Provides consultation, training, and/or support for learning technology tools and platforms
- 10% Analyzes, tests, troubleshoots, resolves issues, and provides feedback regarding learning technologies
- 5% Collects, organizes, interprets, and disseminates data to identify instructional program needs and enhance effectiveness
- 10% Designs, develops, or recommends multimedia learning materials. Facilitates communications with multimedia service providers to ensure instructional needs are met
- 10% Designs, develops, and delivers faculty development and engagement programs and activities

Required
Bachelor's Degree in training and development, adult education, curriculum and instruction, instructional design, or other closely related field
Preferred

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience working with content experts and development teams to creatively use modern and cutting-edge instructional design techniques to design and develop visually appealing blended and/or online training for adult learners.
- Demonstrated ability to assess appropriate tools to meet project needs.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and integrate evolving technology trends in instructional design.
- Experience creating digital content using learning management systems, web-based tools, and content authoring software.
- Experience with designing content, including layout, colors, fonts, and images, in a contemporary style.
- Proficiency with a broad range of technologies, such as Articulate Storyline and Presenter, Adobe Captivate, Audacity or other audio editing software, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Premier Pro, HTML/CSS, Camtasia, Kaltura, Microsoft Office, REDCap, Pressbooks, and learning management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in highly collaborative environment with diverse individuals, groups and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated competence in written and oral communication. Ability to communicate effectively, empathetically, and persuasively to understand and support specific instructional needs.
- Strong organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work while balancing multiple priorities and managing deadlines.
- Competency in adult education, training design, delivery, and evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 or more years of experience working with content experts and development teams to creatively use modern and cutting-edge instructional design techniques to design and develop visually appealing blended and/or online training for adult learners.
- Applied coursework or professional credential in instructional design, media production, and/or educational technology.
- Experience developing rich and engaging learning experiences using learning management systems and other integrated third-party tools in a training delivery environment.
- Experience developing materials for workplace mandated, certification or skills training for a professional adult audience.
- Extensive experience evaluating and using multiple e-learning development tools.
- Experience designing, developing, and deploying instructional audio and video.
- Knowledge of transfer of learning concepts.

The typical starting salary for this position is $51,955 - $74,296 depending on qualifications and experience. Employees in this position can expect to receive benefits such as generous vacation, holidays and paid time off; competitive insurance and saving accounts; and retirement benefits.
Additional Information:
University sponsorship is not available for this position, including transfers of sponsorship.
