Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine seeks applications for BC/BE cardiologist to join our exceptional multidisciplinary Heart Failure/Transplant Program with the opportunity to create a unique clinical practice and engage in teaching and clinical research at a world-class university.

Our Heart Failure and Heart Transplant Programs are known internationally for innovation and excellence. As a major transplant center in the Midwest, we have state of the art interventions including durable ventricular assist device implantation, temporary mechanical circulatory support/cardiogenic shock program, and donation after circulatory death for heart transplant. Our Heart Failure team encompasses programs for amyloidosis, sarcoidosis, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and pulmonary hypertension. Our faculty also lead nationally known clinical research in stem-cell therapy, vagal nerve stimulation and drug discovery for heart failure treatment.

Responsibilities:

For Clinical Teacher (CT) position - Provide inpatient and outpatient clinic attending services at UW Hospitals and Clinics locations in Madison and at additional sites within the region. Responsibilities will also include providing clinical teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, including CME lectures, as well as clinical research endeavors.

For CHS position - Provide inpatient and outpatient clinic attending services at UW Hospitals and Clinics locations in Madison and at additional sites within the region. Responsibilities will also include providing clinical teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, including CME lectures, as well as clinical research endeavors. Opportunities exist for pursuit of clinical research in candidate's area/s of interest. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue and secure independent funding to continue/develop their research.

Qualifications:

The successful candidates will be fellowship trained in heart failure and transplant cardiology. Fellows are welcome to apply.

Candidates for associate professor rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment or promotion on the clinical and CHS track.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Additional Information:

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

The department will not be able to support a request for a J-1 waiver. If you chose to pursue a waiver and apply for our position, neither the UW nor UWMF will reimburse you for your legal or waiver fees.
