Job Summary:
Join the University Housing Facilities team as a Facilities Technician III! We are seeking energetic and skilled candidates to provide repair and maintenance of all mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and refrigeration systems.
Work with a team of professionals focused on excellent customer service with no sales component. Base hours are all daytime hours with flexible start time. This position may have a rotating weekends schedule or scheduled on-call with standby and call back compensation.

Responsibilities:
Inspects, maintains, and repairs specialized equipment and facilities to ensure property meets established standards and to prevent further damage. Assists with construction, design and operational maintenance as needed.
- 35% Utilizes specialized equipment to repair and maintain complex machinery, equipment, and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation
- 10% Performs routine and non-routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness
- 10% Troubleshoots, escalates, and documents issues according to established policies and procedures
- 5% Receives, inspects, inventories, and distributes deliveries independently to appropriate entities
- 20% Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed
- 5% Services and maintains university vehicles and snow removal equipment, assists with snow removal
- 15% Assists with the oversight of student workloads, including training and installation, removal, and maintenance of window air conditioning units
Tasks:
- Assists and guides student workers
- Assists in creating, leading, and participating in a collaborative environment
- Assists with planning, monitoring, and facilitating resident and guest move in/out
- Communicates with residents and staff to address service requests
- Completes work in occupied and vacant housing and dining spaces
- Coordinates and oversees the work of vendors, outside contractors, and physical plant staff in housing and
dining facilities
- Drives vehicles to efficiently transport staff, move supplies, and urgently respond to emergency situations.
- Identifies and attends to seasonal maintenance requirements
- Leads assigned projects and activities to ensure satisfactory performance of mechanical systems
- Manages facilities records and databases
- Provides after hours, weekend, and holiday coverage
- Provides support and assists as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency
- Responds to and resolves urgent or emergency sanitation, temperature, and safety issues in housing and
dining units

Required:
- A minimum of 2 years of commercial maintenance experience
Preferred:
- More than 2 years of maintenance experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Related experience in a commercial, industrial, hotel, large multi-family, hospital, or similar environment
- On-call experience
- Industrial, technical, or HVAC-related degrees or certifications
License/Certification:
Required
Driver's License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards
Work Schedule:
Schedule will be determined with the selected finalist upon hire. Primary schedule is Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00am - 6:00pm, with an on-call or weekend rotation as required by the department.

This is a full-time appointment. The starting hourly wage is $25.00 or higher based on qualifications and includes a competitive retirement and benefits package.
