Job Summary:
We are seeking a mental health provider to join our team to provide individual in-person psychotherapy to research participants as part of a National Institute of Mental Health-funded research project. This project is investigating the impact of pairing psychotherapy with physical exercise or a calm condition completed just prior to psychotherapy sessions. The therapy schedule can be flexible and is part-time (ramping up to 10-15 clients per week for 50-minute individual sessions + regular meetings) with preference for availability in afternoons and evenings. The successful candidate will receive training and consultation in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for depression and follow a manualized treatment plan for all sessions. Those who are not yet licensed will receive training and supervision from licensed psychologists. Compensation is provided for therapy sessions as well as other activities required for this position (e.g., training, consultation, documentation).
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Assists in developing grant applications and proposals to secure research funding
- Collects and analyzes increasingly complex research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures
- Develops and implements increasingly complex research methodologies, procedures, and criteria
- Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials, co-authors publications, and disseminates information to appropriate entities
- Reviews and edits protocols to ensure accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency
- Trains individuals and groups on equipment operations, research protocols, and techniques within a specialized laboratory or research area

The Department of Kinesiology is a multidisciplinary department that includes undergraduate programs in Kinesiology, Physical Education, and Health Promotion and Health Equity as well as nationally ranked graduate programs in Exercise and Movement Science, Athletic Training, and Occupational Therapy. Graduates of our programs have gone on to careers as some of the most prominent researchers and scholars in the field, and leaders within their respective professions.
The Department of Kinesiology resides in the UW-Madison School of Education, which is regularly ranked as one of the top Schools of Education in the nation. Compensation:
Minimum: $75/HR 10-20 hours per week
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
