Job Summary:
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering seeks to hire two faculty members with expertise in any of the following clean energy technology areas: 1) electric drive systems for renewable energy; 2) energy-efficient electronics and/or computing systems for sustainable AI; and 3) modeling and integrated design of grid-scale energy storage devices and systems. Outstanding candidates at all levels (Assistant, Associate, Full Professor rank) will be considered.
These positions are part of the Wisconsin Research, Innovation and Scholarly Excellence (RISE)-EARTH cluster hire initiative. While the tenure home for this position will be in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), the successful candidate will participate in interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts with other departments, schools and colleges.

Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and contributing to curriculum updates and innovations that are inclusive of our diverse student body; mentoring graduate students and supervising their research; developing and directing a successful, extramurally funded research program; participating in departmental and university shared governance; and contributing to professional and public service.

The successful candidate will have an excellent academic record, a vision for an innovative, significant and impactful research program and the skills to implement it, and a commitment to high- quality and inclusive undergraduate and graduate instruction and mentoring. Associate and Full Professor candidates must possess experience and scholarly credentials that meet the tenure standards of the UW-Madison Physical Sciences Divisional Committee and the College of Engineering.

Through accelerated and strategic faculty hiring, research infrastructure enhancement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and increased student and educational opportunities, RISE addresses complex societal challenges of importance to the state, nation and world. Over the next three academic years, UW-Madison will substantially increase current hiring levels, bringing 150 new RISE faculty to campus.
