Job Summary:

The Asian American Studies Program and the Department of Gender and Women's Studies at the University of Wisconsin- Madison seek to hire a tenure-track assistant professor in the area of Asian American Studies and gender/sexuality. The selected candidate will mount a rigorous research program and make significant contributions to the teaching mission of both units. While we are seeking a scholar who engages with both Asian American Studies and gender/sexuality, the specific area of focus is open and scholars may engage any research methodology from the humanities and/or social sciences. The tenure home will reside in Gender and Women's Studies, and the appointment will be budgeted in both Asian American Studies and Gender and Women's Studies. The successful candidate will contribute to an inclusive, fair, and equitable environment that fosters engagement and a sense of belonging for faculty, staff, students and members of the broader community.

Responsibilities:

Successful applicants will teach four courses per year, including at least two courses in Asian American Studies and two courses in Gender and Women's Studies. They will conduct scholarly research, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and provide service to both units, the college, the university, and their broader scholarly community. The successful candidate, as a member of the College of L&S, will proactively contribute to, support, and advance the college's commitment to diversity among all aspects of their teaching, research, and service.

Candidates should demonstrate evidence of excellence in teaching and scholarly research. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience with fostering or the ability to foster an inclusive and equity-centered teaching, learning, departmental, and research environment where all can thrive.
