Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of the Strategic Human Resource Management Center (SHR) plays a critical role in managing the day-to-day operations of the Center's programs, services, and initiatives with a goal of supporting SHR MBA and HR BBA students. This position is responsible for ensuring the successful execution of human resources-related educational events, alumni engagement activities, and applied learning experiences aimed at fostering student success in strategic human resource management careers. The Assistant Director works closely with university departments, external agencies, students, and alumni to respond to inquiries and create a positive learning environment for students.
This position requires a strategic thinker who can lead with agility and innovation to meet the evolving needs of students and stakeholders within the human resources industry. Under broad administrative direction, the Assistant Director manages policies, procedures, and logistical operations to align with the Institute's mission and ensure effective execution and value to student stakeholders. The role involves overseeing Center communications, developing educational programs, including the SHR professional mentor program, coordinating career treks and other applied learning opportunities, and ensuring a welcoming work environment and positive SHR Center culture that supports diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
Responsibilities:
Oversees the daily management of programs, services, activities, facilities, policies and/or processes in order to support student success in various areas of student affairs. Works under broad, administrative direction with significant responsibility for assigned area(s) of responsibility. Responds to inquiries from University departments, educational institutions, the community, and/or external agencies. Strives to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
- 30% Plans, organizes, administers, and manages processes and operations related to assigned area(s) of responsibility
- 10% Monitors, evaluates, and modifies processes, procedures, and/or standards, ensuring alignment with the Institution's mission, values, goals, and objectives, as well as all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- 15% Advises and enforces Institution policies related to services in Student Affairs
- 5% Serves as the program or unit liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups
- 15% Schedules logistics and secures resources to support the operational plans of the program or unit
- 5% May monitor the program budget and approve expenditures
- 10% Communication and Marketing Strategy and Implementation: Plans Center communication strategy; manages periodic newsletters and Center social media platforms ensuring consistent communication
- 10% Educational and Event Development and Implementation: Organizes and oversees human resources-related events such as mentor programs, workshops, career treks, and other applied learning activities managing all logistical aspects

- Minimum one year of work experience in an academic or business setting
Preferred:
- Experience working with business professionals, companies, or foundations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience with WordPress, Salesforce, and other university software platforms
- Experience in one or more of the following areas is desireable: student services, event management, project management, social media marketing, LinkedIn page administration, communications, budget/financial mangement, database management, and/or record keeping
- Strong understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging principles to ensure a positive culture
- Prior involvement with student organizations, as a student or professional
- Knowledge of human resources professional associations and certifications

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
