Faculty 
The UW–Madison faculty is responsible for teaching and research. More than 2,200 faculty members teach approximately 4,300 courses each year and conduct research in 1.8 million square feet of laboratory space across campus and disciplines. By state statute, the faculty is vested with the responsibility for governing the university, including overseeing the campus's academic and educational activities.
